Abstract
Aim-To evaluate quantitative microvascular changes in the optic nerve head(VD-ONH) and peripapillary area(VD-PPA) post trabeculectomy with SS-OCTA .
Methods-Prospective study,33 eyes with primary open angle glaucoma (POAG) with cataract underwent PhacoTrab. OCTA of the optic nerve head and peripapillary area was compared before surgery and 3 months postoperatively.
Results- 3 months post PhacoTrab ,intraocular pressure (IOP) reduced from 19.15±4.15mmHg to 12.3± 2.68mmHg (p < 0.001).There was no statistically significant difference in the mean VD-PPA when compared preoperatively (54.06±6.85%) and 3 months (53.69±7.22%) post operatively (p=0.471) post PhacoTrab, whereas there was a statistically significant improvement in the mean VD-ONH density when compared preop (54.76±3.67%) and 3 months post PhacoTrab (55.90±4.09%) (p=0.04). Conclusions- Post Trabeculectomy the optic nerve head perfusion improved , depicting that IOP reduction can improve perfusion around the optic nerve head.
