Abstract

We report a case of young male presented with decreased vision in both eyes for one and half months which was sudden in onset after he got diagnosed with Rickettsia. On Fundus evaluation of both eyes revealed optic disc pallor with glial tissue and few dot and blot haemorrhages. On further investigations which includes OCT (decreased peripapillary retinal nerve fiber layer thickness of 58 mm in right eye and 60mm in left eye) and FFA (macular ischemia and optic atrophy (BE) was seen), a diagnosis of bilateral optic atrophy with macular ischemia following Rickettsiosis was made. Hence it is important to evaluate the fundus in cases of Rickettsiosis for early diagnosis and treatment. Treatment at earliest possible can save the patient’s vision.
