Abstract
Purpose : To evaluate the results of BANG (Bent Needle Ab interno Goniotomy) on different types of glaucoma.
Methods : A retrospective analysis of 36 eyes of 31 patients with different types of glaucoma in whom BANG was performed. Data regarding the demographic characteristics, type of glaucoma, pre op and post op IOP, vision, gonioscopy findings, intra op and post op complications and number of anti glaucoma drugs before and after surgery were collected from medical records. . Success in terms of IOP and vision was analysed.
Results : There was a mean reduction of 3 mm of Hg of IOP at the last visit compared to the baseline which was statistically significant. The most common intraoperative complication was bleeding.
Conclusion : BANG is a low cost minimally invasive glaucoma surgery. It can be considered for glaucomas where chances of macular snuff out and risk of hypotony is high.
