Abstract
Aim: To determine demographic & clinical profile & see management outcomes of types of secondary glaucoma
Methodology: This is a prospective longitudinal study (duration- 22 months). Total 62 patients (82 eyes) with secondary glaucoma recruited & followed up for 6 months post treatment (medical &/or surgical). The clinical data & management outcomes were noted.
Result: Out of 62 patients, 74.2% -males, 40.3% – > 60 years, 32.3%-bilateral, 51.6%-lower middle class. The leading causes of secondary glaucoma were PXF (27%), NVG (17%) & trauma (13%). The BCVA was < 3/60- 41.4% eyes, IOP > 30 mm Hg -57.4 % eyes) & 42.7% eyes – severe glaucoma. Total 59 eyes were treated medically & 23 were treated surgically. Target IOP was achieved in 65.9% eyes at 6 months (more in surgical group than medical group)
Conclusion: PXG is the leading cause of secondary glaucoma. It is needed to identify cause of secondary glaucoma & start early treatment to reduce burden of blindness.
