Abstract
Aim:To determine the incidence and causes of non traumatic subconjunctival hemorrhage in tertiary care centre of Jharkhand.
Method:Patients with subconjunctival hemorrhage who visited the opd were included in the study.The demographic characteristics like age ,gender,history,location of the hemorrhage were noted.
Results:96 patients with subconjunctival hemorrhage visited the OPD.Out of this 44 patients had non traumatic subconjunctival hemorrhage.Nasal side was most commonly involved(n=41).Right eye was more commonly involved.The analysis showed 19 non traumatic subconjunctival hemorrhage was associated with hypertension .
Conclusion:Hypertension and use of anti platelet drugs is associated with risk for non traumatic subconjunctival hemorrhage.Patient presenting for first time should be thoroughly screened for sub conjunctival hemorrhage.
