Abstract

Aim: To study the fundus fluorescein angiography (FFA) features in patients presenting with post fever retinitis (PFR).

Material and Methods: A retrospective, observational study of patients with PFR with FFA.

Results: FFA was performed in 86 eyes (n=57) patients and 55.4% (n=31) were males. Majority of the patients had positive serology for dengue infection,30.4%,( n= 17)and rickettsia 30.4%(n=17). On FFA, 26.8%(n=15) eyes showed a disc leak and late staining in 17.9%( n=10) eyes. 41.1%( n=23) eyes had diffuse macular leakage and 19.6% (n=11) had sheathing. Peripheral changes were blocked fluorescence 37.5%(n=35), perivascular leakage 26.8%(n=15), hyper fluorescence10.7%( n=6) and CNP areas 8.9%(n=5). 48.6% patients were treated with antibiotics and steroid, 41.4%(n=24) with steroids alone and 12% with anti- VEGF injections.

Conclusion: FFA is a valuable tool in PFR to identify vascular involvement and identify macular ischemia and CNP areas.
