Abstract
Aim: To evaluate the changes in the central choroidal thickness in patients with diabetic macular edema (DME) before and after intravitreal ranibizumb injection.
Methods: 67 patients aged between 25-70 years diagnosed with non proliferative diabetic retinopathy (NPDR) with DME were included in this study. Complete medical history was taken and comprehensive ophthalmic examination was performed at all follow up and documented . Enhanced depth imaging optical coherence tomography (EDI – OCT) was done before giving the intravitreal ranibizumab injection and at 1 month and 3 months interval after the ranibizumab injection. Data collected and analysed.
Result: There was significant reduction of central choroidal thickness along with improvement in best corrected visual acuity at 3rd month of recieving intravitreal ranibizumab injection.
Conclusion: Intravitreal ranibizumab is more effective in decreasing DME in NPDR patients.
