Abstract

OBJECTIVE: To study prevalence and clinical profiles of different subtypes of glaucoma patients. METHOD: Hospital based retrospective study of glaucoma patients over a 1 year period in glaucoma clinic. Descriptive statistics summarized the demographic and clinical characteristics of the patients determining association of subtypes of glaucoma with gender, age and other variables. RESULTS: Out of 28433 OPD new patients 645 patients attended glaucoma clinic between March 2021 till February 2022. The prevalence of POAG and PACG in study population were 34.9% and 17% respectively. 61.8% of patients were male and 38.2% were females. The mean age of patients was 47.7±16.11yrs. The mean IOP ranged 19.1±7.1mmHg. The visual field defect was associated with glaucoma type. CONCLUSION: High prevalence of glaucoma remains a public health problem. About half of patients presented with visual field defect suggests need for public health messages on early glaucoma screening, detection and management.
