Abstract
Performing Phaco in dense corneal opacities is a surgeons nightmare due to poor visibility. Surgeons have realised that the best way to overcome the handicap is a good retro-illumination. A good operating microscope can deliver good retro-illumination, but it may still be insufficient to overcome visual limitations in presence of dense corneal opacities. Retro-illumination can be enhanced with the help of Chandelier light inserted in the vitreous cavity through the Pars Plana. The author presents his experience with this novel technique, and the feeling as if one has jumped from air to an underwater experience
