Abstract
This video is aimed at giving some of the tips and tricks for performing safe manual small incision cataract surgery (MSICS), especially for novice surgeons. It offers a comprehensive guidance to the trainee in applied anatomy and surgical steps, alongside 2D animated MSICS videos. This videos takes the viewer through the important steps of MSICS, from the tunnel construction to the anterior chamber formation following IOL implantation. It shows a novel device, the MSICS tunnel stamp, to guide the making of a perfect sclerocorneal tunnel. It also shows different approaches of nucleus prolapse in various grades of cataract along with simple tips and tricks to be followed while performing complicated cataract surgeries. MSICS is a valuable cataract surgery technique with excellent visual outcomes, and should be considered especially in advanced cataracts. Although it can be performed very quickly by expert surgeons, it is important to be mindful that every step builds on the last.
