Abstract
A 21 year old male patient presented with history of dimunition of vision in his left eye after blunt trauma. Anterior segment examination was normal in both eyes. Fundus evaluation revealed the presence of a full thickness Traumatic macular hole in his left eye with a pseudohypopyon stage of vitelliform disease . A total pars plana vitrectomy was done in the left eye followed by, PVD induction and flower petal ILM peeling over the macular region. While drying the macular area, a stream of lipofuscin started draining out of the macular hole from the sub-retinal space, hitherto never seen or reported in literature. The eye was closed with a C3F8 tamponade This video brings forth a hitherto unreported drainage of lipofuscin in a case of best vitelliform macular dystrophy. It also gives an insight into employment of a technique to actively remove sub-retinal lipofuscin by sub-retinal cannula to prevent any further damage to RPE from deposited lipofuscin and preserve the visual acuity.
