Abstract
Intraocular foreign bodies are seen in upto 41 percent of cases of all open globe injuries. We have compiled a collection a our surgical videos depicting removal of IOFB from the posterior segment via the pars plana approach. They were composed of either metal such as iron and copper, wood or even stone pellets. Each IOFB posed a new surgical challenge owing to its size and shape, further complicated by presence of either endophthalmitis, cataract or an opaque cornea. These IOFB were removed with the use of forceps, magnet, wire vectis or other instruments via a surgical incision in the anterior or posterior segment. One.The removal of each IOFB is a different surgical challenge which may require a new technique or instrument each time. We depict a mixture of age-old as well as novel techniques combined in our cases in order to remove these IOFB, and hope to stimulate generation of newer ideas for all surgeons when faced with such a challenge in their own operating rooms.
