Abstract
Forceps-induced Descemet membrane tears (FIDMT) encountered during complicated forceps-assisted deliveries can lead to significant visual debilitation. Unwarranted stretch of the Descemet’s membrane(DM)can cause vertical/oblique tear leading to corneal edema and visual loss. A 28-year-old female presented with the blurring of vision in her right eye for the past 3 months. On examination, a vertical tear of DM from 12.30-5.30 o’clock was noticed with corneal edema. A diagnosis of FIDMT with corneal decompensation was made. We performed Descements stripping endothelial keratoplasty(DSEK) using a manually prepared lenticule . The anterior chamber maintained was used for stripping the host split DM using inverse Sinseky forceps and the lenticule was inserted using the Sheets glide technique. Postoperatively, the cornea cleared up well and the patient achieved a satisfactory vision. DSEK happens to be a suitable technique in cases of FIDMT provided performed at an appropriate time
