Presenting a case of 28 year old man who sustained a date palm thorn injury in his right eye(RE) following bike accident.Vision was PL+,PRaccurate.O/E,there was a suspected nasal scleral rupture.Anterior chamber(AC) showed posterior synechiae with complicated cataract.B scan revealed dense vitreous hemorrhage. We planned to do a scleral rupture repair with cataract extraction with pars plana vitrectomy.Scleral rupture was repaired following peritomy.Pupillary membrane was removed followed by cataract extraction. As vitreous haemorrhage was getting cleared,to my surprise,a large non metallic foreign body(FB) standing upright embedded in superonasal retina was revealed. Then performed a large primary posterior capsulotomy and enlarged the corneal incision for removal of the FB.The FB was brought into the AC with claw shaped retractile forceps and removed and it was a date thorn which measured 9.5mm.Inside retinal detachment was settled with silicone oil.Postop vision improved to 20/120.
