Abstract

Background: Ocular surface pathologies like recurrent pterygium, chemical burns,persistent corneal epithelial defect, non-healing corneal ulcer, and some systemic conditions like steven-johnson syndrome, pemphigoid,vit A deficiency possess a great deal of threat to visual outcome. Amniotic membrane because of its unique properties including the facilitation of migration of epithelial cells, the reinforcement of basal cellular adhesion and epithelial differentiation together with its ability to modulate stromal scarring and its anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial activity has led to its use in the treatment of these ocular surface pathologies.

We are presenting the videos showing Amniotic membrane grafting in Steven Johnson syndrome.

Conclusion: Amniotic membrane has been proved to be a boon for ocular surface pathologies and its use is continuously increasing in recent years if it is done adequately and within the appropriate time period.
