Abstract
Implantation of Ahmed Glaucoma Valve is an effective surgical technique to reduce intraocular pressure in patients with primary/secondary refractory glaucoma. Traditionally, the placement of AGV tube has been described into the anterior chamber through the anterior chamber angle. However, scenarios with disorganized anterior segment, extensive peripheral anterior synechiae, compromised corneal endothelium or corneal transplant demand the tube placement in other areas such as the ciliary sulcus, pars plana or exteriorized to the anterior chamber from sulcus through a peripheral iridectomy, in order to prevent the tube related complications. This video will highlight the different scenarios of insertion of AGV tube in different chambers of the eye and also the techniques of assessing tube patency post operatively in cases with difficult visualization, with the help of ASOCT, UBM, endoscopy and gonioscopy, which will help the surgeon overcome the hurdles in managing these difficult cases.
