Abstract

Acute Retinal Necrosis is a condition presenting with panuveitis in which there is anterior as well as posterior segment involvement. Causative agents are viruses of the herpes family. Here we have a case of a 33 year old HIV positive patient with bilateral acute retinal necrosis, with retinal detachment in the right eye, which was treated with vitrectomy with silicon oil infusion. Intravitreal triamcinolone was used, to identify the posterior hyaloid face and to ensure a complete vitrectomy subsequently. Brilliant blue dye assisted ILM removal was also done for the same reason. Silicon oil infusion was done at the end of surgery.
