Abstract
Methods: This is secondary data analysis of 10 eyes of 10 patients with OAG. They
underwent iStent (six) or iStent inject (four) implantation with or without
phacoemulsification, and were followed for one month. The outcomes were: changes in
intraocular pressure (IOP); and number of medications.
Results: The mean (SD) age was 58.1 (12.3) years. The grades of glaucoma were: Grade 1 –
4, Grade 2 – 2, and Grade 4 – 2. The mean (SD) IOP reduced from 15.2 (3.43) mm of Hg pre-
operatively to 12.1 (5.9) (p=0.09) by day 7, and 11.8 (2.5) (p=0.18) after one month. There
was a significant reduction in the median (IQR) number of medications post-surgery at one
month (4 [3, 5] vs 1.5 [1,3]; p=0.0078).
Conclusion: iStent and iStent inject achieved lower IOP and significant reduction in number
of medications at one month; it may be a good adjunct treatment for POAG.
