Abstract
Purpose:To study the clinical outcomes in patients with sequential bilateral RRD in a tertiary care centre
Method:Retrospective review of records of patients with sequential bilateral RRD between Jan’11 to Dec’19
Result:A total of 79 cases were recruited in the study. The mean age at presentation was 44.82 years.PVR more than grade B was seen in 22.78% of initial and 15.18% of subsequent eyes at presentation.PPV was done in 22.78%, SB was done in 40.50% and BB+PPV was done in 20.25% in case of initial eye, while PPV in 17.72%, SB in 44.30% and BB+PPV was done in 22.78% in subsequent eye. In the initial eye, silicone oil was used in 31.64% and gas was used in 27.84%, while in the subsequent eye, silicone oil was used in 30.37% and gas was used in 25.31%.The single operation success rate in the initial eye was 48.43% while 60.86% in the subsequent eye.The mean surgeries performed was 1.58
Conclusion: BB+PPV yielded a higher success rate of 77.77% compared with 57.14% for PPV or SB alone
