Abstract
Wavefront aberrations of human eye include lower-order and higher-order aberrations(HOA). The their-order and more radial aberrations considered HOA are difficult to measure and there’s no data regarding same for Indian eyes. This is a prospective study including 521 Indian subjects aimed to establish the normative data on higher order aberrations in Indian subjects. All subjects were within 23-30 years of age and those cases with Dry eye disease, refractive error (>0.25 DS), any systemic pathology or previous ocular pathology were excluded. The mean total HOA were 0.222 ± 0.133 and 0.076 ± 0.031for mesopic and photopic pupils. Coma was 0.152 ± 0.196 and 0.042 ± 0.02 for mesopic and photopic pupils. Trefoil was 0.137 ± 0.143 and 0.046 ± 0.026 for mesopic and photopic pupils. All HOA, mainly trefoil were contributed majorly by cornea. This study may be a landmark for optimising results in refractive and cataract surgery by setting cut offs for candidate selection.
