Abstract
Juxtapapillary Retinal Capillary Hemangioma (JRCH) is an extremely rare ocular manifestation of VHL. Surgical treatment modalities have showed poor outcomes.Rarely do these hemangiomas regress spontaneously. We report a rare case of spontaneously regressing large JRCH with visual improvement, in a VHL patient. Young woman presented with diminution of vision in Right eye in absence of other ocular or systemic complaints. RE :6/12; LE : 6/6.Fundus,FFA,OCT and OCTA revealed large JRCH causing macular traction in RE along with multiple extrapapillary hemangiomas in BE. Systemic screening revealed multiple pancreatic serous cystadenomas. Patient was diagnosed with VHL and was advised ocular treatment, but was lost to follow-up and presented a year later with 6/6p in RE, associated with regressing JRCH with reduction in macular traction. We propose that VHL patients with JRCH causing moderate visual acuity reduction, can be observed for a few months before advising active intervention.
