Abstract
We are hereby reporting a case series of post transfusion retinopathy in patients undergoing blood transfusion for chronic iron deficiency anaemia, pancytopenia and thrombocytopenia .All 3 patients presented with complaints of sudden diminess of Vn within 48 hrs of transmision of blood or its components. On examination they were found to have multiple ret hges in both Eyes which do not correspond to anaemic retinopathy as thepatient were asymptomatic previously. Thus modifications in the hemodynamic circulation or circulatory overload in presence of hypoperfused retina led to appearance of sudden hemorrhages.. Our patients were closely followed up and put on NSAID eye drops and Chymotrypsin-trypsin oral combination. These hges gradualy resolved over 4 to 6 week. Post transfusion retinopathy till date has not been studied much and it needs ti be studied on large-scale to evaluate cause and methods to prevent occurrence of hemorrhages post transfusion and role of surgical intervention.
