Abstract
PURPOSE: To report the cosmetic outcome of combined approach of simple excision with conjunctival autograft with corneal tattooing for limbal dermoid in pediatric patients.
METHOD: 2 eyes of 2 pediatric patients were treated with simple excision with conjunctival autograft with corneal tattooing for limbal dermoid. Preoperative and postoperative visual acuity, postoperative recovery time, cosmetic improvement , and complications were reviewed.
RESULTS: The mean follow-up period was 3 months. Resolution of patient discomfort and corneal epithelialization was achieved in 1 week. Visual acuity was stable in postoperative period. Cosmetic outcome improved in view of corneal opacity and conjunctival vascularization.
CONCLUSION: Corneal tattooing and conjunctival autograft after simple excision of limbal dermoid can lead to a satisfactory cosmetic outcome, better compliance, and early postoperative recovery without complications for grade 1 limbal dermoid in pediatric patients.
