Abstract
Our case series of 16 eyes of 8 patients who underwent Phakic intraocular lens (ICL) implantation for correction of myopia (range -3.5 to -19.5 D) in presbyopia age provides an overview of visual outcome of this procedure.
The mean age of presentation was 47 years with equal male and female proportion. The follow up duration range from 6 months post operatively to 3 years. Post operatively there was no complications.
Uncorrected distance visual acuity of all patients was 6/9 to 6/6. We aimed under correction of 1-2 D in the non- dominant eye of these patients to give them better near to intermediate vision. Binocular uncorrected near visual acuity was N6-N8.
However 2 patents required spectacle for near to read fine prints. Patient’s satisfaction was good in all 8 subjects.
Phakic lens can be a better option over LASIK laser for refractive correction for presbyopia age patients.
