Abstract
Familial exudative vitreoretinopathy (FEVR) is a hereditary disease characterized by aberrant and incomplete retinal angiogenesis. The disease closely resembles retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) and shows marked phenotypic variability. The clinical presentation may vary from asymptomatic avascularity in the peripheral retina to retinal neovascularization, subretinal exudation, partial and total retinal detachment causing severe vision loss. Here we have a case of a 20 years old female patient with right eye tractional retinal detachment involving macula in familial exudative vitreoretinopathy, which was treated with vitrectomy with C3F8 gas. Full thickness macular hole (FTMH) was noticed intraoperatively for which Brilliant blue dye assisted ILM peel was done. Endolaser and cryotherapy was also done. Perfluoropropane (C3F8) gas was injected at the end of surgery.
