Abstract
Aim:To study demographic pattern and etiological factors associated with subconjunctival haemorrhage
Methods:An observational hospital based study. All patients with symptoms consistent with the diagnosis of SCH were clinically analysed and detailed ocular and systemic examinations were performed. Data was documented in a preformed proforma. Statistical analysis was expressed in descriptive statistics and percentage. This study was conducted under the aegis of Helsinki declaration
Results:Total 57 patients with SCH were studied. Male: female ratio was 1.59:1 with male 61.4%. Mean age of the patients were 32.9 years. Traumatic cases were more. Blunt trauma and finger nail trauma were common etiology. Spontaneous SCH were due to systemic hypertension(45.61%) followed by idiopathic and raised intra abdominal pressure
Conclusion:Patient must be reassured as most cases are self resolving. Systemic cause should be treated in recurrent cases
