Abstract

Pterygium is a wing shaped proliferation of the conjunctiva over the cornea. It may cause Irritation, redness, ocular surface infections and rarely visual disturbances. Conventionally, Pterygium was removed with the help of blades, by scraping off the tissue from the cornea- which may lead to post operative scarring, residual tissue and poor cosmesis with higher rates of recurrences. Here we introduce you to two bladeless techniques of pterygial head removal-

1. ”Ptery-SNIP”- Suture based Pterygial Head Removal and

2. “Ptery-PEEL”- Peel off Technique for pterygial head removal.

Thereby providing an easy and effective approach to pterygium removal providing less scarring postoperatively, cosmetically better with lower rates of recurrences.
