Abstract
Aim:To study various ocular and retinal manifestations associated with anaemia and its severity
Methods:Ocular examination included visual acuity with Snellen’s test type and anterior segment examination with slit lamp biomicroscope. Posterior segment examination was done after dilatation of pupils with mydriatic using indirect ophthalmoscope, slit lamp with 90 D lens. This study was conducted under aegis of declaration of Helsinki
Results:71 patients diagnosed with anemia were studied. 29.58% of cases had severe anaemia and 46.48% had moderate. Conjuctival pallor was commonest ocular manisfestation(77.46%). Flame shaped haemorrhages were seen in 39.44% cases. Other retinal manifestations were dot and blot haemorrhages, sub-hyaloid haemorrhages, venous tortuosity, cotton woolspots, retinal edema and macular star
Conclusion:Early diagnosis of retinal manifestation help in proper treatment and resolution of retinal lesions
