Abstract
AIM- To know the various causes for expulsion of prosthesis. METHODS- 2 people who underwent evisceration were undertaken for porous type of silicon ball implantation following the evisceration procedure (flower petal technique). Both the procedures were done by the same surgeon which were uneventful. The size of silicon ball implant was calculated using the axial length of the other eye. RESULTS- First case of evisceration was following a bleeding anterior staphyloma. Second case of evisceration was a globe rupture following RTA, had expulsion of the implant 3 days following evisceration for which resurgery was done to place it back which again got expulsed 3 weeks postop. CONCLUSION- Cause of evisceration plays an important role as the first case was bleeding anterior staphyloma while the 2nd case was RTA with globe rupture & multiple facial fractures. The Fracture of the inferior orbital rim could be one of the causes for expulsion needing multi disciplinary branch intervention.
