Abstract
Aim: To describe subretinal hyporeflective globule(SHG) in cases of Central Serous Chorioretinopathy(CSR).
Material and Methods: Retrospective OCT analysis of cases of CSR presenting to a tertiary eye care center. SHG were identified as small globular lesions below the external limiting membrane/ellipsoid zone but above the RPE layer. They had a hyper reflective border with a hyporeflective core and clear posterior tail of hyper transmission.
Results: 137 eyes of 137 patients was analysed. 80(58.4%) eyes had acute disease at presentation, 48(35%) eyes had chronic disease, 8(5.8 %) eyes had resolved CSR. SHG were seen in 30(21.8%) eyes whereas choroidal caverns were seen in 7(5.1%) eyes. 25 eyes with chronic CSR had SHG but they were found in only 2 eyes with acute CSR. 3 eyes with resolved CSR had SHG.
Conclusion: SHG as a novel OCT finding in CSR was are mainly seen in cases with chronic CSR with thick choroid suggesting an underlying inflammatory process behind their formation.
