Abstract
Subhyaloid hemorrhage can lead to severe loss of vision if it occurs in the macular area. It may be caused due to numerous causes like valsalva retinopathy, anemic retinopathy, diabetic or hypertensive retinopathy, retinal artery macroaneurysm, retinal artery or vein occlusion etc. Spontaneous resolution may take weeks or months. It may cause direct toxic damage to retina and result in epiretinal membrane formation. This may lead to irreversible vision loss either due to surface wrinkling or tractional macular detachment. Here we present a case of subhyaloid macular hemorrhage in a 26 yrs old female with 8 months of amennorhea with sudden vision loss in left eye, there was no identifiable cause. However the patient was treated successfully with Nd-YAG laser hyaloidotomy and the patient vision improved from 3/60 to 6/6.
