Abstract
2 preterm babies were detected to have intraocular infection at the time of ROP screening and treated. The first baby was 38 weeks Post conceptional age(PC)A with h/o chicken pox in mother at first trimester–treated with homeopathy medications . Antenatal scan revealed ventriculomegaly in the baby. Fundus was extensively scarred and clinical diagnosis as a sequelae of varicella zoster retinopathy baby was treated and oral acyclovir and steroids treatment under guarded prognosis. Clinical improvement noted on follow up. The second baby (twin gestation), 37 weeks PCA, had history of blood transfusion in mother in second trimester and was diagnosed to have pre-retinal haemorrhage secondary to forceps delivery with Active and scarred lesions suggestive of toxoplasmosis at the time of ROP screening. Other twin had no fundus signs of infection. TORCH titers for mother and affective twin was advised and empirical anti-toxoplasma treatment was started. ROP screening aided in prompt treatment
