Abstract
A 23 year old male, labourer by occupation, presented with diminution of vision in both eyes for past 4 years which was gradual in onset and progressive in nature. On ocular examination, the uncorrected visual acuity in both eyes was 4/60, which did not improve with refraction. The anterior segment of both eyes was WNL. colour vision was defective. Drug exposure history was negative. Fundus examination revealed Bull’s eye maculopathy in both eyes. Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) scanning demonstrated widening of the foveal contour which signifies foveal atrophy. Family members of the patient were also screened for the same, but they did not have any similar findings.
Conclusion
Education of the general public and awareness regarding vision is important so that early presentations and management/ counselling can be done. Low vision aids were prescribed for the patient and prognosis explained.
