Abstract
Most orbit-oculoplasty surgeons face difficulty due to pooling of blood intra operatively especially in surgeries like Daryocystorhinostomy (DCR),Dacryocystectomy (DCT), orbitotomies etc.It is often assisted by nurses, using mops or a large suction cannula. Eyespirator is a novel, push technique mechanism, aspiration tool which can be used to avoid intraoperative pooling of fluids that cause a hindrance to surgeons during the surgeries. It was made by connecting three syringes and two I V tubes. It works based on the principle of hydraulics. It was later modified into a non contact motorised model with a sensor system. We describe the easy procedure of making of this tool and its application in various orbit surgeries.
Eyespirator is the first, novel, Do It Yourself (DIY), aspiration tool with a push mechanism which helps to avoid excess pooling of blood during oculoplasty surgeries making it easy for both the surgeon & assistant carry out the surgery.
