Abstract
Purpose: To describe clinical features, imaging, evaluation, management and outcomes in 13 patients of atypical VKH with review of literature.
Methods: Retrospective observational case series of 26 eyes of 13 patients with VKH who presented from 2003 to 2022. All patients underwent complete eye examination and uveitis work-up including fundus photo, OCT, B scan, FFA, ICGA.
Results: Out of 26 eyes, 3 eyes of 3 patients had unilateral presentation of VKH. Among 20 eyes, 15 had atypical VKH. 4 eyes had poor vision (PL) of which 2 eyes had optic atrophy. 2 eyes had NVI, 1 eye had choroidal melanoma and 1 eye had neuroretinitis with VKH. 4 eyes had anterior and posterior scleritis, 2 eyes had posterior scleritis and 1 eye had anterior scleritis. Treatment was individualised for every patient with topical, oral and IV steroids & immunosuppression.
Conclusion: Our case series highlights the challenges in diagnosis and management of atypical VKH, a rarer form of a widely-known entity.
