Abstract
To assess the severity of adult glaucoma by using SPARCS and to correlate with RNFL OCT and visual field changes.Materials and methods: Consecutive 132 adult glaucoma patients’ eyes underwent SPARCS, visual fields , RNFL OCT and Pelli robson contrast sensitivity tests. Results: SPARCS scores in mild, moderate and severe glaucoma eyes were 73.67, 60.09 and 50.13 respectively. Spearmans coefficient of correlation between HVF mean deviation(MD) and OCT RNFL, SPARCS and HVF MD, OCT RNFL and SPARCS, Pelli Robson scores and HVF MD were 0.386(p<0.001), 0.690(p<0.001) ,0.240(p=0.006) and 0.532(p<0.001) respectively which shows a positive correlation. SPARCS was found to have better correlation than Pelli Robson Test with respect to severity in mild and severe cases (p <0.05). Conclusion: The total SPARCS score may be used in staging glaucoma severity and to assess visual function in eyes with severity of glaucoma.
