Abstract
Objective: To study GCL and IPL in OCTs and compared with RNFL- OCTs in toxic optic neuropathy
Materials & Methods: Patients were worked-up in neuro-ophthalmology clinic of a tertiary institute in north east India .The design was retrospective clinical study. BCVA, colored vision, RAPD, optic nerve evaluations were done in all cases. Subnormal color visions in Ishihara test chart and confirmed by FM 100 Hue tests were done. Humphrey visual field 30-2 showed central defects in both eyes were seen in all cases. RNFL, GCL and IPL thickness OCTs were carried out in all the cases.
Results: Nine cases (n=9) of toxic optic neuropathies were studied. They were Ethambutol (following ATT) induced (n=8) and one case (n=1) after use of tablet Artesunate (following Malaria)
Conclusions: Reduction in GCL layer and I P layers in optical coherence tomography were seen in all cases which were more specific than RNFL OCTs change
