Abstract
We evaluate and compare the accuracy of the AS-OCT in measuring distance of horizontal recti insertions in extraocular surgery.
Prospective study was conducted in 50 patients in the age group of 5-50 years. The distance of horizontal recti muscles from the limbus and the angle of the anterior chamber measured by AS-OCT preoperatively was compared to intraoperative measurement using a surgical caliper( arc and chord length ) before and after disinsertion of recti.
Mean age of subjects was 26.34 years. Total of 21 MR and 26 LR were measured. Mean distance of MR insertion was 5.79 – 5.88 ( BD and AD) and LR was 7.11-7.12 mm
On ASOCT from limbus MR measured 6.2 mm from limbus and 5.73 mm from AC angle and that of LR was 6.37 and 5.79 mm respectively. The values correlated on pearsons correlation coefficient and noted to have p value <0.001 which implied very high significance. AS-OCT measured insertions correlated well with intraoperative measurements albeit in virgin muscles
