Diabetic vitrectomies many a times present as humbling experience even for the most experienced surgeons. This is because of the complex retinal detachments, anatomic variations due to avascular retina, long standing detachments and systemically unstable patients causing intraoperative ocular and systemic complications. This video highlights the pre operative and intra operative preparations and various surgical instruments and techniques used in diabetic vitrectomy. A meticulous step by step surgical approach using appropriate instruments and techniques results in better outcomes. Case based approach is demonstrated in this video which simplifies the surgery.
