Abstract
Purpose: Penetrating injuries are devastating for eye. We present a case of intraocular foreign body.
Method: A 24-yr old male visited to our hospital with diminished vision in left eye (OS) following injury with a stone 12 days back. Visual acuity in right eye (OD) was 6/6 and left eye (OS) was 3/60. On anterior segment examination of OS, self sealed corneal scar along with iris and lens injury was noted at around 9 ‘o’ clock position. On fundus examination, a black colored foreign body with vitreous haemorrhage was observed super-temporally. Ultrasonography showed membranous echoes in vitreous cavity along with high reflective spike on amplitude scan, suggestive of intraocular foreign body. Patient was put on topical and intravenous antibiotics. Pars plans vitrectomy with intraocular foreign body removal with endolaser was performed.
Results: VA was counting finger at 1 meter on immediate postoperative period and was followed.
Conclusions:Detailed examination of globe is required.
