Abstract
To report a video of eyelid myokymia in case of periodic hypokalemic paralysis (PHP)
Video feature:
A 37-year-old female who was admitted to the medicine ward came in view of involuntary eyelid movement while awake. She was a known case of PHP and was under treatment with systemic potassium and acetazolamide 500 mg/day. The patient had involuntary bilateral involuntary lower lid movement which fade on its own and again start after some time. We recorded the video of involuntary movements and diagnosed the case as orbicularis myokymia and advised to continue oral potassium therapy.
Conclusion:
The patient lost to follow up so we are not able to analyze the effect of systemic potassium therapy on orbicularis oculi. But telephonic conversion was made with the patient, so she felt her lower lid movement reduced after systemic potassium therapy.
