Abstract

AIM

To enable blue light and green light photography with any smartphone using a universal novel solution to aid photo-documentation in ophthalmology and to compare it with gold standard.

METHOD

To build a novel attachment so as to enable blue and green light photography with any smartphone. The FLUTO was developed using ingenious techniques so as to deliver the similar quality as the traditional cobalt blue and green filter found in slit-lamps. The images captured were then compared statistically to those with slit lamp (gold standard).

RESULTS

The FLUTO was developed after a series of trial-and-error testing. Varied pathologies of the eyes including anterior and posterior segment lesions were photographed brilliantly. The images captured with FLUTO were compared with corresponding slit lamp images and they were found to be comparable.

CONCLUSION

FLUTO is a novel accessory for any smartphone, without any technical expertise needed to obtain blue and green light photographs.
