Abstract
Introduction: Spaeth/Richman contrast sensitivity is an online test, measures 1 central & 4 peripheral areas of vision. In our study we compare the correlation between OCT RNFLT & SPARCS, to know reliability of SPARCS as an easier diagnostic modality & it’s use in glaucoma workup.
Method: Adult patients presenting to OPD from February 2022 to July 2022, with moderate to severe glaucoma, were included in the study. Patients underwent OCT RNFLT and SPARCS test which was conducted using the same computer monitor (1024 × 768) in dark room & standard light conditions.
Results: 44 eyes of 28 patients included in the study, showed strong correlation between SPARCS scores and average OCT RNFLT (p<0.05). In both eyes, superior (11-1o’clock) RNFLT and SPARCS of lower quadrant & inferior RNFLT (5-7o’clock) & SPARCS of lower & upper quadrant had significant correlation. Conclusion: SPARCS can predict RNFL thinning and can be a useful online tool in the work-up & follow-up of glaucoma patients.
