Abstract
Purpose: To explore the diagnostic potential of novel AI derived dry eye analyzer in clinical practice of dry eye.
Method: Prospective study to evaluate consecutive patients presenting with symptoms of dry eye. They were subjected to Dry Eye Analyzer including Non-invasive breakup time (NIBUT), Non-invasive Tear meniscus height (TMH), Infrared meibography & lipid layer interferometry in addition to Schirmer Test & ocular surface staining. Those diagnosed with dry eye were categorised into aqueous deficient, lipid deficient or Meibomian gland disease (MGD).
Results: 520 patients with mean age 32.5±13.4 years were examined.77.2 % subjects had dry eye. 56.1% had MGD. 52% had abnormal lipid layer thickness.14.6% cases hithero missed by conventional tests were diagnosed by dry eye analyzer. Positive correlation coefficient was found between Schirmer & staining, NIBUT & TMH.
Conclusion: Dry Eye Analyzer does not rely on clinician judgement, is non invasive & makes monitoring easier.
