Abstract
Purpose
To compare visual outcomes of monofocal IOL with enhanced intermediate function and extended range of vision (ERV) IOL.
Methods
Prospective comparative interventional analysis of 95 patients (190 eyes) undergoing bilateral implantation of enhanced monofocal (n-90) or ERV IOL (n-100) .Primary outcomes were stereopsis (distance & near Randot) and visual quality (ray-tracing aberrometry) at 1 year. Secondary outcomes were VA and patient satisfaction.
Results
Distance stereopsis was comparable (109.4±54.8 vs 103.6±49.1 arcsec; p>0.05); near stereopsis better with ERV IOL (42.9±12.1 vs 21.1±2.3 arcsec; p<0.05). Strehl ratio, MTF and HOAs were comparable. Monocular and binocular uncorrected near and intermediate VA better with ERV IOL (p<0.05), distance VA was comparable. Glare and haloes more with ERV IOL; patient satisfaction was comparable. Conclusion Comparable outcomes for distance with both IOLs. ERV IOL provided better near and intermediate VA with superior near stereopsis.
