Material and methods

An observational study conducted at primary eye care centre in rural setting from 1 July 21 to 1 july 22 between a period of one year.

All agricultural eye injury patients included .

209 eye injury patients studied

Results

Closed globe injury

– Contusion 87(41.62%)

– Lamellar Laceration 19( 11%)

-Foreign bodies 32(15.31%)

Open globe Injury

– Perforation 07(3.3%)

Other

Chemical injury 24(11.48%)

Barud Thermal injury 21(10.04%)

Corneal ulcer secondary to vegetative trauma/foreign body 19(9.09%)

Conclusion

Male: Female 178/31(85.16%/14.83%)

Eye injuries more common in male

Most common eye injury contusion (41.62%)

Least common eye injury Perforation (3.3%)

Early consultation

Regular follow ups needed

Protective eyewear if worn appropriately can reduce agricultural ocular eye injuries
