Abstract
Aim:To report the safety and efficacy of Micropulse Transcleral Cyclophotocoagulation (MP-TSCPC) in eyes with refractory glaucoma.
Methods:Retrospective review of patients who underwent MP-TSCPCwith a minimum follow up of 3 months were included.Data collected were age, gender, diagnosis, previous ocular surgery, visual acuity, intraocular pressure (IOP), optic disc findings, and number of antiglaucoma medications (AGM) in the preoperative and postoperative visits.
Results: Thirty six eyes were analyzed. Mean IOP reduced from 35.7 ± 12.9 to 22.7± 11.2, 22.2± 10.4 and 22.1 ± 8.2 mmHg (P < 0.001) at 3, 6 and 12 months respectively. The mean number AGM reduced from 4 to 3.5 at 6 and 12 months. Visual acuity remained stable in all follow up visits. IOP reduction of more than 20% from baseline was achieved in 66.67%. Thirteen eyes (36%) failed during the study period. No major complication were noted. Conclusions: MP-TSCPC is safe and effective in controlling IOP in short term.
