Abstract
A 3-year-old male child was brought by his parents with complaint of gradual onset, painless, progressive swelling over the left eyelid for 3 weeks, which was associated with drooping of the eyelid. He was treated elsewhere as a case of preseptal cellulitis with antibiotics. CT scan of the orbit showed an orbital mass suggestive of rhabdomyosarcoma. On examination, he was systemically stable, and no swellings were found elsewhere. He had a non-tender mass of approximately 8X5cm extending from the upper lid margin towards the left temporal area, not adherent to skin or underlying structures. The rest of the anterior segment, refraction, and fundus examination were within normal limits. An MRI scan of the orbit and fine-needle aspiration cytology of the mass confirmed the diagnosis of Giant Cell Reparative Granuloma and was planned for surgical excision. Orbital Giant Cell Reparative Granuloma must be included as a differential diagnosis for orbital rhabdomyosarcoma in a child.
